Sonam will remain special to me: Shahid

Actor Shahid Kapoor is all praise for his "Mausam" co-star Sonam Kapoor and called her "special".  "I think Sonam is a wonderful looking girl and she looks very simple and innocent. This is the reason why dad (actor-director Pankaj Kapur) was keen to cast her in 'Mausam'. In her upcoming film ('Players'), she is looking wonderful.  I think she is always a special actress because I did 'Mausam' with her which was special to me," Shahid told reporters. Despite link-up rumours, Shahid is single ever since he broke off with Kareena Kapoor in 2007.  Some reports even claim he is commitment phobic. But the actor responded: "That I am commitment phobic? No, I am not commitment phobic. I don't react to most things."  The 30-year-old, who has hits like "Vivah", "Jab We Met", and "Kaminey" in his kitty, seems to have become selective about movies as he had only one release this year.  As for new projects, he is currently working in Kunal Kapoor's film "Teri Meri Kahani" along with Priyanka Chopra and Prachi Desai.

The new foursome in B-Town: Kareena, Imran & their better halves

Kareena Kapoor and Imran Khan are bonding big time with their better halves in tow  Thanks to their latest film together, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu, co-stars Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor have become fast friends. And that's not all. Their respective better halves are also now friends. Interestingly, Imran and Kareena didn't exactly hit it off at the start of their rom-com, produced by Karan Johar. Says our source, "Initially, Imran was reserved and a bit wary as he didn't know Kareena well. Even though she's teamed up with his uncle Aamir Khan in 3 Idiots and has signed Talaash opposite him, it took a while before Imran and she became friends, " says our source. In fact, they even kept meeting each other, off the sets.  The source adds, "If they were going for an event, they'd hang out together. Unlike Imran, Kareena became instantly friends with Avantika. When Saif would be around, he also joined them." They even went dining together recently. The source points out, "When the last schedule of Ek Main Aur Ek Tu was wrapped up, the two actors decided to go out, along with their partners. They visited a fine dining restaurant in Bandra, that was suggested by Bebo." Kareena has always been vocal about her liking for the younger Khan. "I like working with Imran Khan. Shocking: Chitrangada almost groped by fans

The actress escapes with few scratches and an ankle injury while promoting 'Desi Boyz' On Tuesday evening, Chitrangada Singh was made to realise the perils of being popular. She escapes with few scratches and an ankle injury while promoting 'Desi Boyz'  At a shopping mall in Pune, while she was promoting her film with co-stars John Abraham and Akshay Kumar, the crowds went berserk around her. The actress also suffered scratches in the process.  Says an eyewitness, "The mall had three floors packed with people because the stars were to perform.  However despite many security guards, things went awry and the crowd was trying to reach out to the actors. The crowd was way beyond the capacity of the mall and it was very difficult to control over 4, 000 people at one go."  Realising it was not safe any more to continue, the organisers called off the show half way. And when the stars proceeded to exit the venue, things went completely out of control.  Chitrangada who also hurt her ankle says, "I have never seen so many people together in my life. Plus they were so aggressive that they started pushing the railings and even got into a scuffle with the security guards.  I realised then how serious the situation was. There was a point when I fell and almost got groped, but thankfully Akshay was right behind me and he bailed me out." More trouble Apparently later in the evening when the actors reached a Pune nightspot, John Abraham spotted a girl being eve-teased and immediately stepped up to help her. Vidya Balan is now 'Bombaat Balan' !

Actress Vidya Balan has been rechristened "Bombaat Balan" by her fans after her sensuous avatar as Silk in her forthcoming movie "The Dirty Picture". "Bombaat Balan, people have started calling me Bombat Balan! I found it quite funny the first time, but now I am used to it. Great!," said the actress in an interview.  After having been seen in graceful and classy roles like "Parineeta" and "Paa", Vidya suprised everyone when she decided to play a sex symbol in Milan Luthria's "The Dirty Picutre", but it was not a cakewalk for her.  "I would have to say that Silk (her character name in the film) has been an extremely demanding, exhausting, tiring and yet very fulfilling and exhilarating role for me to have played."  "It's like a workout. Sometimes you kill yourself during the workout and you feel dead after that. But it's also extremely exhilarating and there is a sense of adrenalin rush after the workout and that is how I feel after this film," Vidya, 32, said.  It may have been an exhausting role but at the same time, Vidya thoroughly enjoyed the experience of playing an actress of the 1980s and 1990s. "Films in those times were full of masala and entertainment. Songs and dance used to start at any point in the film amidst pots, colours and oranges. I have done all that in this film, so all my wishes are fulfilled," she said.  Vidya started her career with "Parineeta", an adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's book. After that she did glamorous roles in "Heyy Babyy" and "Kismet Konnection", but her fans liked her more in films like "No One Killed Jessica".  This is not for the first time that Vidya is doing something unconventional. Even in "Ishqiya", she played a woman who oozes snesuality and mouthed expletives to make her role convincing.  She seems to be experimenting further in that direction with "The Dirty Picture", which is releasing Dec 2. In the film, she will be seen romancing Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor.  After "The Dirty Picture", Vidya has Sujoy Ghosh's "Kahaani" opposite Emraan.

Raped woman given choice to spend 12 yrs in jail or marry her attacker

Lack of adequate laws to protect the integrity of women in Afghanistan is once again been questioned after it emerged that a woman, who was raped by her cousin's husband and was jailed on charges of adultery, has been given an option to marry the man who attacked her honour and start a new life with him

Gulnaz was just 19-year old when she was convicted by a court for adultery and was sentenced to serve 12-years in prison, even though she tried to prevent the attack.

Now she is in Kabul's Badam Bagh Jail, serving out her sentence with her rapist's child.

Even two years later, Gulnaz remembers the smell and state of her rapist's clothes when he came into the house when her mother left for a brief visit to the hospital.

"He had filthy clothes on as he does metal and construction work. He closed doors and windows. I started screaming, but he shut me up by putting his hands on my mouth," she told CNN in an exclusive interview.

After the attack, she hid what happened as long as she could. But soon she began showing signs of morning sickness. After the incident was disclosed, Gulnaz was prosecuted, instead of being sympathized.

She was given the option that most women would consider nothing less than repulsive, starting a new life with the man who attacked her, the Daily Mail reports.

Surprisingly it something Gulnaz is willing to do, as she believes this second chance would help restore her honour and legitimize her infant daughter in the eyes of Afghanistan's conservative society.

"I was asked if I wanted to start a new life by getting released, by marrying this man," she said.

"My daughter is a little innocent child. Who knew I would have a child in this way. A lot of people told me that after your daughter's born give it to someone else, but my aunt told me to keep her as proof of my innocence," she added.

Gulnaz's choice is stark. Women in her situation are mostly killed for the shame their ordeal brings to the community.

Amanda Seyfried hits the hike trail
